Hedge Hog Lantern!
Sometime earlier this year I saw a small black lantern on clearance at Walmart and I quickly bought it but didn’t know what I would use it on at the time. After visiting Jo-Ann’s this last spring I saw some woodland décor animals that look like they are made or the forest with wood and leaves and flowers making up the animal. I fell in love with the little hedgehog and after some internal debat if I should buy him I decided to. I instantly knew it would be cool to put the hedgehog inside the black lantern I had bought.
Once I got home I decided to see how he would fit and well the door wasn’t wide enough for the hedge hog because the wooden quills were too long so I had to use my garden clipper to try and clip it down and it was slow going because I didn’t want to damage the hedgehog. After some effort over a few days I got it to fit at a side angel and was happy. So I added some reindeer moss underneath him to resemble grass and placed some small wood chucks that look like logs around him as well as if he is sitting in the actual woods. Then I laid a few acorn decor pieces about as if he is resting on the ground and these items have fallen around him.
Lastly I wanted it to be a usable lantern so I decided to add light but since I only at that time had copper wire LED lights and I wanted silver white I decided to use a bottle light I had that has silver wire and white light. I used I believe tape to try and keep the switch on the inside roof but it wouldn’t stay so as of right now I only have it resting behind the hedgehog for easy access and you cant really tell its there because of the angle. I may however use some fasteners to better hook it on the inside roof but its such a small space it will be hard going.
All in all this woodland scene with the adorable hedgehog and lantern is one of my favorite super simple pieces and is displayed on my new bedside table which I showcased on here which I had made out of a clearance crate.
