Moss Decorated Basket!

This is probably one of the simplest things you can put together and takes probably 5-10 minutes depending on how you decide to decorate it. So last year in July 2018 we celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary and decided to throw a party and we did similar colors to our wedding blue and pink but really pretty shades of those. The anniversary party had a Japanese koi pond theme. We didn’t want gifts but we did want anniversary cards for our scrap book and memories so we asked for no gifts but would love anniversary cards so I needed something ours friends and family could put the cards into.

So we got a box of stuff from some friends that were moving and didn’t want some things and inside was this basket but on one side it has 3 ceramic things hanging there with cats and flowers on them and I kept the basket even though I didn’t really care for the ceramic things hanging there, they are cute but not something I really needed. So when I was looking for something for the cards nothing seemed right but my husband said what about that basket we had gotten. I didn’t know how to mask the ceramic things cause it didn’t fit the theme so I decided to flip the basket backwards and it looked like it might work.

I took some reindeer moss and using regular white glue and E6000 spray on adhesive I sprayed along the back and side edge and applied reindeer moss to the edge and then reapplied more where needed. Once it was dry and not falling I attached a pretty pink bird clip on decoration. I also applied some cherry blossom flowers to the sides and back as cherry blossoms played a part in some decorations at the party. Lastly I placed a blue and then a pink dragonfly on the opposite end from the bird. The blue dragonfly is the same as seen on my wedding bouquet holder which I had made myself.

So that everyone would know it was for their anniversary cards I placed a chalkboard sign on the side but made the string with it go through the sides of the basket as if it was always a part of it.

That was basically it and I loved it and still do but I wanted it to be kept the way it was but didn’t at first know what I wanted it to be used for but then it dawned on me we kept putting our mail on the kitchen table but it was a mess so after the anniversary I changed the chalkboard sign to read Mail and now it hold our mail and is still super cute!
