Hot Cocoa Snowmen Jars!
During winter I saw a snowman hot cocoa jar at Kirkland’s
but I thought I can make that cheaper well mine was a little bit more expensive
but has a more unique homemade charm lol!
I decided to make gifts for my mom and dad and my husbands
grandma and grandpa and these hot cocoa snow men jars were perfect. I bought 2
packs of 8 small spice jars but only used 3 a piece. I didn’t know how to
attach the snow men at first. I thought of maybe magnets or glue but I wanted them
to be able to reuse the jars so I quickly settled on fasteners you stick on. So
after cleaning the jars I took the Velcro fasteners and put them in between the
jars except don’t on the bottom of the last jar and top of the first jar. This allowed
them to stay together and the fasteners can be removed and jars reused if they
wanted to be or of course cleaned as well.
To make the top jar cap look like a cap, hat or beany I took two
of my husbands craft items green fuzzy balls and hot glued them to the top so
it could add a feature but I hot glued so it too could be removed if necessary
as well. I then took the black 3D puffy paint pen and drew eyes and a mouth
and then used orange 3D puffy paint for the carrot nose and yellow 3D puffy paint
for the buttons, funny enough both my mom and my husbands grandmas favorite
color is yellow, lol, so I thought to do the buttons in yellow to bring out
their favorite colors!
Now for my mom and dads I did specialty hot cocoa in the
mint flavor for theirs and I used 3 packs to fill the top jar. This allowed
them 3 cups of hot cocoa and we measured it out so we could tell them how many
tablespoons to make one cup. The center jar I packed with mini-marshmallows, as
may as I could fit, lol! And then to match the hot cocoa snowman I saw at Kirkland’s
I put mints in the bottom jar but instead of red swirl peppermints as was in
the stores jar I used green swirl spearmints I already had in my at home candy
jars.
For my husbands grandparents I did it differently because
they like two different flavors of hot cocoa. So the top jar is Raspberry
flavor and the bottom jar instead of spearmints it has Caramel flavored hot
cocoa and again each jar fit 3 packs so 3 cups of hot cocoa. But just like my
parents one the center jar has mini-marshmallows packed to the brim.
No snow man is complete without a scarf! So I decided to
make them little scarves, ones that would fit my mom and my husbands grandmas
personalities the best. So I bought two fat quarters of fabric. Little bugs and caterpillars
we chose for his grandma and little birds we chose for my mom! I folded it in
half and made it as thin as possible and wrapped it around the neck region of the
snowmen but to make them even cuter I made the ends of the scarves to look like
a real scarf I cut along the bottoms just a little and they do look like
scarves now.
I then found how to make origami envelopes to look like
animals. I did a penguin for my mom and a cow for my husbands grandma as those
are their favorite animals respectively. I’ll put a link here on where to learn
to do the origami envelopes. I then put cute little notes inside the envelopes
to go along with their favorite animals, Cow again for grandma and Bee this
time for my mom.

Oh and my goofy husband is in the background of a few of the pictures trying to do dino surgery, lol! He made a pretty cool Brachiosaurus Dinosaur model out of floral wire, aluminum foil, play do and paper towel and paint!
