Rose Bud Pillow!
I made this Rose Bud pillow for my husband Anthony’s grandmother Jeri. So I did the back of the pillow similar to my sisters pillow and later my own pillow and even a pillow I made for my mom. You cut the black crystal organza fabric to the size of the red fat quarter fabric or whatever size fabric your using for the back of the pillow. Then with the crystal organza facing in against the fabric you sew along the edges all the way around, smooth it as you go so it doesn’t puff up the fabric and lays flat. You leave a few inches so you can push it right side out kind of like you’re making a pillow and push out the edges and sew the end inches closed. This extra effort works and makes it even better! Now once that is done I will say the back of the pillow fabric will look a little different in color because of the organza fabric but the effect is lovely.
You then cut the
front fabric to the size of the back but allow for seam allowance and then line
it up with the front facing the crystal organza so you’re working on the back
side of the fabrics. Sew along the edges with the top layer of pillow being
sewn above the string line of the bottom pillow so you don’t see the string,
I’m not good at describing this very well. Leave a few inches at the end of the
pillow. Turn the fabric right side in through the hole and using your finger or
pen or pencil or something push the edges out to make them crisp and defined.
Now comes the time to stuff the pillow. Taking the stuffing stuff it till its
as firm or soft as either you or you guess the person you are gifting it to
would like and then sew it closed.
Voila you have a beautiful pillow! My husband Anthony's grandma Jeri loved it!
