Spring 2019 Heart Wreath!
I bought heart shaped wire wreaths at Dollar Tree during Valentines
and knew from the start my spring 2019 wreath was going to be this. So I went
to YouTube to see what some had did with these to get inspiration. I found someone
who made this but they did a farmhouse one with white or cream roses but I knew
I wanted to use the pastel purples and pinks and yellows as I love to use
lots of colors.
So the lady took nautical rope and hot glued it around the
center of the wreath all the way but since our door has a peep hole any wreath
I make I try and not obstruct the peep hole so I can still see out but if you
have a window near the door or can see out otherwise then you can just keep
going and fill in the whole center section with nautical rope. I used one whole
set of nautical rope to get what I did, so a tiny portion of another set of rope would be needed to finish the center section
if you choose to.
I’m used to using grapevine wreaths and so I came to the
challenge of wire wreaths, lol. The nautical rope was interesting it didn’t glue
neatly as I saw with the one YouTube ladies but once the roses are on it’s masked
in a way. So the next challenge was getting the flowers to glue to each other
and the wreath and oh boy it is not easy or least not for me it wasn’t. I did the pink
and purple roses as my main flowers with accents of yellow. The purple and pink
and yellow all had tips in a white color to bring it all together, I think they were Queen Anne Roses. So I did it section
by section but soon learned I needed more roses so in all I bought quite a few bouquets
of flowers but didn’t wind up using them all but I’m glad I got them in case. I
think I had like 3 or 4 bouquets left for future crafts.
As I was gluing I used quite a bit of hot glue as well because
I was gluing them to each other and the wire wreath and reinforcing with more
glue so the back of the wreath is a bit of a mess with glue but the front is beautiful
and I love the way it looks. Now to give a pop of green I took some discarded leaves and cut them out
and glued them to sections that had holes where roses wouldn’t fit but leaves would
and also I added them to make it look more natural and the effect paid off.
I love this wreath and I am inspired to do future wreaths
with wire wreaths instead of wooden ones but I’ll be prepared to use lots of
glue lol!
