Mini-Garden Spring Swing!

I was at Ross Dress for Less and I didn’t find anything that fit me and was nice but in their garden décor section I found an adorable grey mini porch swing plant holder and I fell in love with it and bought it knowing I could make it into something totally new.

So I knew I wanted a whole new color and I knew instantly that I wanted a blue color so I went to Wal-Mart and I found the color I wanted it was Seaside Rust-oleum Satin Spray Paint. I covered the ropes as best I could with tape, that is my go to item to cover something I don’t want painted as it comes off easy and does a good job of cover large areas. I spray painted the whole swing and left it to dry.

Now I either collected or already had most of the other items by this point. So once it was dry came the fun part of decorating it. So I had seen these cute little wreath like décor items at Jo-Ann’s but even on clearance it was more than I wanted to pay so I decided to make my own. So I bought a long Forsythia Branch at Dollar Tree as I thought the yellow on blue would make it pop even better and branches like that are easier to bend and hold than thicker harder stems. So I twisted it and rounded it as a wreath of sorts but to keep it together I used some yellow bakers twine I had and tied it keeping the wreath tight but also hiding the bakers twine behind flowers. Now if you want you can glue it and once dry remove the twine or use clear string like fishing wire to make it all invisible but mine wasn’t very noticeable so I left it as is. Plus I decided to attach the wreath to the planter with a teal blue satin ribbon so the ribbon bow masked the bakers twine on top so that was good.

So just like my Frog and Moss Spring Table Centerpiece I got two of the other frog figurines at Dollar Tree that had great little personalities! And so almost since the beginning I decided to instead of put planters in the area on the swing that I would make it into a house for the frogs! So similar to the spring table centerpiece I used dark blue, light blue and white sea glass as water as well as dark moss and light green reindeer moss for land as well as moss rocks. So it was all fun really seeing how I wanted it to go. I knew I wanted the frogs facing each other as they look as if they are talking, lol! So after that I just put moss, moss rocks and sea glass around them and of course attached the forsythia branch wreath to the back of the swing. I also put two lavender picks in the far corners and supported them with moss rocks.

I put the 3D stickers on before the frogs but either way I had picked up two packs of 3D stickers at Dollar Tree that were really lovely and I decided to use them to decorate the swing as I knew it would be under the roof of the porch and not be blown off or have rain deteriorate them so I decided to use them. I put the Love one behind the forsythia branch wreath and the Joy and Hello ones on the bottom on opposite sides and also put two different flower bouquets stickers on opposite sides by the arms of the swing. The Joy sticker has what looks like lady bugs crawling on it so I had these cool 3D lady bug stickers so I attached them near the Joy sticker as if they crawled from the Joy sticker onto the rest of the swing and up the arm as well. My husband suggested placing a lady bug on the nose of the one frog with an open mouth so I did and it seemed to explain their expressions in a way as if one is pointing it out and one is like oh no lol! Last little element is at the top of the swing and later while on the porch I placed it around the rope was a single blue dragon fly decoration!

After it was all together I placed it on the dividing wall on our porch and I think it looks adorable! Though it does look a little bare around it so I might add something around it so it doesn't look like the only item in that area. There are so many ways anyone can go with this but I love the way mine turned out.
