Frog and Moss Spring 2019 Table Centerpiece!
So I got inspired when I saw all the cool spring stuff at
Dollar Tree this year and this Fleurs & Jardin or Flowers & Garden depending
which version was at your Dollar Tree, mine didn’t get the English version
until after I had picked up the Fleurs & Jardin one but it’s ok me and my
husband Anthony were learning French at the time and so it was cool. So then my
eyes came to rest on the coolest relaxing reclining frog figurine and I was
like he looks like he is just chillin’ like a cool froggy lol and the idea of
what to do came to me. Oh and not to mention how excited I was to find the succulents,
oh my they are always gone when I come in but I got them the day they came and practically
bought them all lol.
So I decided to leave the galvanized bucket the way it was
even though I’ve seen people painting them I like the look and to me it looks
like a bath tub, back woods style lol. So then I had been googling how to make
cheap but realistic water but none of the methods I felt like fiddling with I really
wanted to use what I already had. So I looked through my supplies and found
some blue and white mixed sea glass I had used on my summer 2018 wreath and I thought
I can make it look like the water but I didn’t want to fill the whole thing with
sea glass so I took some left over mixed sand and rock left over from our July
2018 1 year wedding anniversary party and poured some at the bottom to make the
planter heavier and fuller and so it wouldn’t topple over as well as I intended
to switch out my fall centerpiece in our living room with this one, which I did.
So I took dark blue, light blue and white sea glass and positioned
it the way I wanted on only one half of the bucket and I like the look it
created. I then took two tones of moss, dark and light reindeer moss and some
moss rocks and decorated the other half of the area of the bucket to look like my
cool froggy is half on land and half in the water. Then I took two succulents
and placed them just so after playing around with where to put them and such. Then
I placed my froggy on the water with legs toward the land but it wasn’t right
just yet. I took a moss rock and placed it under his foot as a foot stool and
to secretly keep him level but also look like he’s just chillin’ and then placed
another moss rock under his head which made it look just too dang cute! It would
have looked good just like that but I had also bought a pack of copper wire
lights and I wanted to use them so I weaved it by the top and bottom of the planter
and placed the battery pack in the back of the planter and hid it with some
moss rocks.
Honestly this is one of my favorite pieces and I’m glad to
share it! I wish I could chill all day like this cool frog! There are endless possibilities
for this look and so go have some fun and give your froggy a cool new home!
Oh and by the way sorry if the stuff on the floor is distracting I make quite a mess when crafting lol and also the ugly mattress in the background we were waiting to throw out in the trash and it made an awful backdrop lol!
