Fall 2018 Table Centerpiece!

In the Fall of last year I was seeing a fair bit of centerpiece crafts online and one day while going through Dollar Tree I came across this cute medium sized blue plastic bucket, kind of reminds me of a drink bucket or something. It looked like the plastic version of galvanized ones you see at Walmart during the summer season and even though at the time I didn’t know what I would do with it I bought it cause I just knew it would come to me. Then of course I caught sight of all the beautiful fall florals and boom it hit me to do a fall floral centerpiece, of course some of the flowers I already had at home and knew they would go perfect in the centerpiece as well.

So once I was at home I put the two rectangle wet foam pieces into the bucket, one was on its side. Whether you use dry or wet foam or any other filler should work just fine. I decided which flowers, copper / gold roses, burlap sunflowers, orange sunflowers, purple/ burgundy marigolds, golden yellow marigolds and some flowers with curly Q stems I wanted and then I used my wire cutters and cut them down the stem a bit further down than the flower so that it sticks out further from the top of the bucket. After I decided how I wanted them and repositioning and adding here and there it looked nice and I even as you can see photographed it but the blue on the bucket looked more spring like to me so I decided I wanted something fall and something to complement the colors of the flowers. So I went to Walmart and I saw a Rust-oleum Metallic Finish Spray Paint in Bright Copper that seemed to match the copper / gold roses in the bouquet and complimented the other flowers as well, so I was super excited. My husband Anthony took it out back and spray painted it for me but as you see some sections ran a bit, we are not the best spray painters lol, but loved how it looked when done anyway. I did cover the handles so that they didn’t get spray painted but if you like you can spray paint them too but I like the galvanized metal look to them.

Since I had the flowers already done how I liked in the blue one I just took out the wet foam blocks with flowers still in them and set them aside while the bucket was being spray painted and dried. Once it was dry I reinserted the foam blocks and repositioned a few more flowers and with it being nice I then took two different colored mosses one dark one and one a light green reindeer moss and I added some to cover the foam blocks and stems and to seem as if almost falling over the sides so it looks natural.

I really love this fall centerpiece and I just now took it and stored it for the year, so it stayed up through winter, as I have a new spring centerpiece which I will eventually be blogging about!
